“Die Autorin is a free flow of reflection on authorship, hierarchies in the art world and many more written from the first person. In the play performed by Verena Noll Natalia recalls her life and career as a playwright in Russia. She contemplates on what she is expected to express in her writing now as an artist from Russia and what is really important to say for her personally beyond censorship and self-censorship.”
- Maria Ruchjevaya, Radio Blau Leipzig

The theater performance contains pieces of female composers from an experimental collective Moscow Scratch Orchestra, that made music based on the English composer Cornelius Cardew’s theories of improvisation.
Written and staged by Natalia Zaitseva
Performer: Verena Noll
With compositions by: Asya Ashman, Alexandra Novozhenova, Anna Versotskaya
Translation of the original English text into German: Marvin Neidhardt

The play was developed by the author as part of a scholarship at the Schaubühne Lindenfels, supported by the Martin Roth Initiative. This is a protection programme for cultural workers who are politically persecuted in their home countries because they are committed to the freedom of art, democracy and human rights.
