Natalia Zaitseva (b. 1983) is an artist and writer who works with theater, performance, video, and participatory practices. She collaborates with playwrights, theater actors, visual and sound artists, choreographers, and composers. Her interests include personal narratives, autofiction literature, and fringe dramaturgy. The transition between documentary and fiction is a constant feature of her work.
Since 2012, Natalia Zaitseva has been active as a dramaturg, journalist, writer, and theater director within the Moscow feminist scene. Her plays have been staged at the Meyerhold Center and other theaters. She is the author of the book The Mortgage of Suffering (No Kidding Press). After 2022, Zaitseva has been working as an artist in exile in Leipzig.
In 2023, her performative essay Die Autorin premiered at Schaubühne Lindenfels (Leipzig). Her video work Interview with the Pistol is part of the permanent exhibition of the Armoury (Rüstkammer) at the Dresden State Art Collections (SKD).
